58 th ASHWELL MUSIC FESTIVAL 2011 SATURDAY 21ST - SUNDAY 29TH MAY

The 58 th Ashwell Music Festival kicks off this year with the lively Endurance Steel Orchestra, a group of 20 young musicians from London , playing Caribbean music. Other renowned performers at the event include the Maria Fidelis Gospel Choir, The Hermitage Ensemble from St. Petersburg and a classical trio - Chroma. Top of the bill are The Counterfeit Bee Gees, a tribute band covering songs from four decades and featuring a multi-media feature on the life and times of the brothers.

The Festival will take place in venues throughout the village including St. Mary's Church, the United Reform Church (URC) and Ashwell School .

There is also a Young Musicians' Concert featuring young people from Ashwell School, The Knights Templar School and St. Mary's Junior Choir.

Tony Gee, Chairman of the Music Festival organising committee comments “We are looking forward to some excellent music from musicians of all ages. Developing this event over the years provides a great opportunity to give entertainment, promote local and international talent and enjoy music. “
